Abeiku Santana has lambasted organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) for prioritizing “friends and acquaintances” over merit during the selection of nominees into the various categories of the award scheme.

According to the renowned radio and TV host, Kofi Kinaata and Fameye deserved to be in the ‘Artiste of the Year’ category of this year’s VGMAs.
On his Ekwanso Dwoodwoo show on Okay FM, he wondered whether the two artistes had offended members of the board, adding that the aforementioned artistes’ works have been ignored every time they have demonstrated to be deserving of top-tier recognition.

“So, Charter House and VGMA, in what way have Kofi Kinaata and Fameye wronged you? Charterhouse, organizers of VGMAs, I’m asking how they have wrong you. What have they done to the extent that they weren’t nominated for the Artiste of the Year category? Keep doing that.

“Keep being selective and unfair to these artistes and continue to nominate your friends and acquaintances. Anytime it Is time for these two artistes to be rewarded, they don’t get it. Just look at their works. Look how hard they have worked. Are you being fair at all? Your reward is in the hands of Shatta Wale.”
Before his comments, reggae dancehall act, Ras Kuuku, had earlier lashed out at VGMA board for repeatedly nominating Joe Mettle forever the Artiste of the Year category even though, according to him, he had not worked hard enough to merit that recognition.
Ras had also pointed out that Fameye would have been a more worthy nominee for the Artiste of the Year category than gospel singer, Joe Mettle.
